OUR LAST SHOW WAS...
"WHOSE WIVES ARE THEY ANYWAY?"
Written by Michael Parker
Directed by Glenn Jumper
The Towne Players last performance was a rollicking farce
of
mistaken
identity and cheerful perversion. We saw a harried
up-and-coming
businessman hatch a plot to fool his new boss
at a strange golf resort! It featured JOSH RUSSELL as David,
an ambitious businessman who didn't realize what he was
capable of in a strange
bedroom. With MARK DiPASQUALE as
his friend John, who came to
welcome the softer side of Sears,
and JOYCE SIEGEL as D.L., a CEO
with determination...
and a secret. CONSTANCE LONG was Tina, a girl willing to play
along with David and John's scheme... for a price.
CYNTHIA BELL
was Wilson... a handyman, a cypher. JEN GEMBKA was cast
as Mrs. Carlson, the owner of the golf resort who welcomed
everyone, but had some kinks of her own, and JESSICA SWANICK
as David's
wife, loving but willing when aroused to seek the
passionate arms
of Wilson? And KATHERINE VENTRESCA as
John's wife, surprised to see an unexpected change in him.

Our previous show was
"Sylvia"
Written by A.R. Gurney
Directed by Kathleen Weber
A play for those who have and
love dogs for those who
would like to. Sylvia (Lindsey Visser), a sassy pup, bounds into
the lives of Kate (Teri Jo Ritz) and Greg (Josh Snyder). For Greg,
it is love at first sight, but Kate is less than pleased and
quickly finds she hates her furry rival. A meeting in the park
with Tom (Mark DiPasquale) and his dog Bowser, a visit with an
old friend, Phyllis (Katherine Ventresca), and a session with a
gender-neutral therapist lead to a final ultimatum from Kate.

A very special production
of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," adapted by
Romulus Linney, was presented by the Towne Players on December 7, 8, 9,
14, 15 and 16, 2007 at the Sheridan-Parkside Community Center Theatre in
Tonawanda. Director Randall Rumley declared "This is the version of
'A Christmas Carol' you must see: it is based on the original book by
Charles Dickens, bringing all his wonderful characters to life on the stage,
along with the brilliant choreography of Lisa Taylor and her young
troupe of dancers!"
The cast boasted a list of
performers ranging in age from 5 to 90 years old!
Assistant Director Josh Dimmig-Russell worked closely with the actors,
accomplishing a fresh performance of a holiday favorite. Featured performers
included Hoover Elementary's own Colin Lynch as Tiny Tim, Robert Lonski
as Scrooge, veteran actor Robert Wagner as Old Joe, and Michael Leszczynski
as Fred, Scrooge's nephew. There were three original dances choreographed
by Lisa Taylor for this wonderful, heart-warming production.

The
Towne Players
19th Annual Christmas Show
This
year's Christmas show included two dance numbers performed by
the Lisa Taylor Dancers,
a performance by members of the Suzuki Strings
and a performance by the barbershop quartet "For Pete's Sake".
There were original and some well-remembered comedy skits, bringing
forth memories for young and old. This marked our first year at the
Sheridan-Parkside facility under the auspices of the Town of Tonawanda
Youth, Parks and Recreation
Department. The players have enjoyed their
first year at this new site and this was their first Christmas show at
this location. This FREE Christmas show tradition
began in 1988 and
has always
been done with great enthusiasm as a gift to the community.

a perfect setting for this provocative play.

Stage Door is a comedy/drama,
telling the story of a 1930s
New York City boarding house full of young, aspiring actresses.
Their hopes and disappointments are played out as they
struggle to earn acting roles on Broadway, each for their own
individual reasons and often to no avail. Dreams are crushed in
some cases and in others are realized. The comings and goings
of various potential suitors adds flavor to the mix.
